Belmont lies about 9 km east of Perth CBD, on the southern bank of the Swan River. Its governing body is the City of Belmont . The suburb spans approximately 4.4 km². 

At the 2021 Census, Belmont had 6,959 residents, with a median age of 36. The area combines residential, commercial and light-industrial zones—its western side leans more commercial, eastern side more residential.

Belmont is lively and diverse. With shopping, parks, recreation centres and proximity to the river, locals enjoy both convenience and nature. Community events, sports tournaments, local markets and recreational classes at Belmont Oasis keep the social calendar active.

Weekends often see families heading to Tomato Lake for walking, fishing or picnics. On warm evenings, riders might head toward the Sacramento rapids or along river foreshore trails.

Local driver’s tip: For morning rides along Great Eastern Highway, avoid starting your trip between 7:30 am and 8:30 am—traffic toward the city can slow sharply.
